Finmin against exempting parastatal firms from windfall profit tax
MOSCOW, Jul 18 (PRIME) -- The Finance Ministry opposed the idea of Pavel Zavalny, head of the State Duma's committee for energy, to charge no windfall profit tax on the energy firms with more than 20% state interest and their affiliates, Deputy Minister Alexei Sazanov said late on Monday.
The State Duma, parliament's lower chamber, approved the bill in the first out of three required readings on June 28. The document envisages a one-time payment of the tax by the companies with a pretax profit of more than 1 billion rubles in 2021–2022, except the oil, gas and coal firms.
Amendments for the second reading included delisting some electric power, oil transportation and oil product companies from the taxpayers.
The committee of the State Duma turned down a proposal to exclude stevedore companies that transshipped coal in 2022 from the taxpayer list.
At the same time, the committee supported exemption of real estate developers and banks that had no sales revenue in 2018 and 2019.
